Cotter

Cotters are mounted in grooves at the end of the valve stems, where they function to join the spring retainer to the valve.
Cotters are carburized and quenched after cold forging to ensure that the contact surface has the required wear-resistance and component-bondingperformance.

Retainer

The retainer is fastened to the valve through cotters, transmitting the force of the valve spring to the valve. FUJI OOZX has reduced its weight by developing an aluminum retainer. We have also succeeded in developing a light-steel retainer, which has thinner walls and is smaller in size, to provide even more weight reduction.

Valve seat

The valve and the valve seat work as a team to open and close the passage of fluid or gas, control the intake of the fuel-air mixture into the cylinder and the exhaust of combustiongases out of it. The seat must have high thermal conductivity as well as great resistance to wear, corrosion and oxidation.

Valve rotator

The valve rotator gives the valve a slight turn each time the valve opens, to prevent burnout, blowout or uneven wear caused by uneven temperature distribution across the valve face.
